Ronald Ward Face Memorial Scholarship

Ronald Face, a resident of Melrose, Massachusetts, spent his childhood in the town and graduated from Melrose High School in 1976. As co-captain of the high school baseball team, he developed a deep affection for the sport, his coaches, and his teammates. Ronald’s love for baseball began in his youth, playing Little League in Melrose. Over the years, he continued to share his passion for the game by coaching his younger siblings and nephews.

Outside of playing and coaching, Ronald also dedicated his time to umpiring for leagues in Melrose, often seen at the fields when he wasn’t working. His commitment to baseball and his community remained steadfast throughout his life.

In memory of Ronald, the Face Family has established a scholarship for a graduating senior baseball athlete, honoring his spirit of sportsmanship and love for the game while giving back to the Melrose community. The plaque at Conant Field commemorates Ronald’s father, Ward Face, who was instrumental in Ronald’s development as both a player and a coach, and who taught him well…Play Ball! Ronnie did just that…a great player and a great coach to many in Melrose. He will be remembered on our Melrose fields always.
