Melrose High School Permanent Scholarship Fund

The Daria Elise Pearlman Memorial Scholarship which you have received, was established in 2017 by Daria’s Mother, Jill Pearlman, and her sister, Cara Lousararian. Daria graduated from MHS in 1998. She was involved in a number of activities, and truly enjoyed her high school years. Daria was voted “friendliest” in her class, and this was truly fitting. She attended Salem State University, and majored in Early Childhood Education. Teaching was a passion of Daria’s, and she was a very well-respected preschool teacher . Daria later went on to become a Licensed Addiction Counselor, and had the opportunity to help teenage girls, which was deeply meaningful to her. Starting at a young age, Daria showed a deep level of caring about people who are less fortunate. She was part of Project Bread, she volunteered on Sundays to prepare and serve meals at a nearby church, and she participated in The Walk for Hunger- all of these during her high school years. In later years, she volunteered at My Brother’s Table, in Lynn, where they serve two meals a day to underprivileged citizens. Daria loved being part of this program. The two words that best describe Daria are “Caring” and “Selfless.”

Daria’s family and friends hope that this scholarship you are receiving will serve as an enduring tribute to honor her memory and her many accomplishments.
