Nancy A. (Ceddia) Solano, of Melrose, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Jan. 1, 2005, after a lengthy illness at the age of 57.
Nancy was born in Boston, raised in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School Class of 1965. She went on to receive her degree from Boston State College in 1969 and her Masters degree from Northeastern University in 1975. Nancy was a lecturer at Northeastern University for over 10 years, she worked as a teacher in Medford for 2 years and the Melrose School System for over 30 years, teaching at many of the elementary schools in Melrose.
She was a member of the Church of the Incarnation in Melrose since 1969 where she was a Lecter and CCD teacher for many years.
Nancy was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Mu chapter, Association of University Women, National Teachers Association, Faculty Society at Northeastern University, Mass. Teachers Association, International Reading Association and was the creator & founder of Children are Readers Society C.A.R.S. at the Winthrop School in Melrose to encourage & stimulate her students to embrace the love of reading.
She was the beloved wife of Kenneth C. Solano Sr. of 36 years. Devoted daughter of the late Antonio J. & Marie E.
