Al’s family and friends established this scholarship to honor his memory and the positive impact he had on the Melrose community and beyond. This scholarship aims to celebrate the way Al lived his life—marked by kindness, humor, and a strong sense of connection—and to support a graduating senior from Melrose High School who shares these qualities. Preference will be given to students who embody the traits that made Al so special, including: The ability to connect with others easily, a willingness to help, and a good sense of humor—an interest in a career in construction, a passion for playing golf. Additional preference will be given to students intending to enroll at Merrimack College, where Al’s daughter, Bella, graduated. This scholarship, awarded in Al’s memory, hopes to inspire the youth of Melrose to carry on his spirit of connection, laughter, and friendship that Al shared with everyone around him.
Graduation from high school is the first step out of Melrose and into the world. This is a significant event in your life, and the people who support the Scholarship Fund are happy to join with the faculty of Melrose High School and the community at large in wishing you well.
The sponsor of this scholarship is interested in knowing your plans for the future and would appreciate hearing from you. They enjoy receiving a thank you from the scholarship recipients with some general background, such as what school you are attending next year, activities you pursued at Melrose High School, and what you plan to study.
